| The Rejuvination of LA |
| By Universal Sports -
Some 25,000 runners will no doubt rejoice upon reaching the Pacific Ocean at the end of the 25th Los Angeles Marathon on March 21. But none will feel a sense of accomplishment quite like that of L.A. Marathon president Russ Pillar, for whom the finish line will mark the culmination of an overhaul of a once downtrodden, suddenly high-flying event.
"It's not just me," Pillar told Universal Sports. "Everyone in this city is looking forward to the marathon. This is what we knew the race could be." |

| Champs Merga and Kosgei will Defend Boston |
| By Universal Sports -
Deriba Merga of Ethiopia and Salina Kosgei of Kenya, the defending men's and women's champions, will return for the 114th running of the Boston Marathon.
In the 2009 men's race, Merga ended Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot's three-in-a-row streak and ran away from the lead pack in the Newton hills, unchallenged to the finish. Merga is just one of three Ethiopians to interrupt Kenyan dominance of the event over the past two decades. |

| Records Fall in Hobart |
| By Athletics Australia -
The racing was fast and furious for the 27th running of the Cadbury Marathon at the weekend, where two course records were set on a big day of action on the Apple Isle.
Australian Flame representative Mark Tucker (Vic) and Canberra’s Scott McTaggart each posted course record times to secure comfortable wins in the half marathon and marathon events and etch their names into the race history books.
While the rest of the country sweltered, some of the nation’s best distance runners took advantage of ideal conditions along the Hobart course to post strong performances in what is rapidly becoming one of the fastest marathon courses in the country. |
