After dominating the 50m butterfly in Australia for the last decade, Geoff Huegill (pictured) looks set to continue in that vein in 2010 after a strong victory at swimming's Victorian Open Championships in Melbourne.
Swimming in Lane 4 alongside training partner Andrew Lauterstein, Huegill stopped the clock in 24.20 to take first place in the 50m fly from Ryan Pini from Papua New Guinea (24.28) and Lauterstein third in (24.34).

| US Wins Duel in the Pool |
| By Universal Sports -
Michael Phelps struggled in a knee-length suit, but the Americans who stuck with the soon-to-be-banned bodysuits Saturday ensured the Europeans were trounced by 107 points in the Duel in Pool at Manchester in England.
In the last major meet before the Jan. 1 ban on high-tech polyurethane suits, the U.S. team won by a 185-78 margin and set eight world records over the two days.
Phelps, who has reverted to wearing an old style textile suit, did anchor the U.S. to victory in the 4x100m freestyle in a world record time, but didn't fare well in the individual races. |
